A walk of up to an hour and a half round the Walthamstow reservoirs, played on your phones. Solve a clue at each of the night-watchman's stations, and hear about the herons, the Coppermill and the men who ran the water.
March 1905. A night-watchman's log stops halfway down the page: “Something blue on the water. Going down to see.” Walk his last round of the reservoirs, pick up the letter on each of his ten keys, and put them in order to find out what he went down to see.
11 stops, and a true story at each
Every stop is a real place most people walk straight past. Solve its clue and you get its story: who lived there, and what happened.

Good to know
Who is it for?
Families, birdwatchers, a weekend walk. Anyone who likes a puzzle and a bit of history.
When can we play?
Any day the Wetlands are open. The gates shut at 4pm in winter, so set off by 2pm.
Is it safe for kids?
It keeps to the flat concrete path, shared with bikes and runners. The banks drop into deep, cold water, so keep children well back from the edge.
Can we bring the dog?
No. It's a working reservoir and a nature reserve: assistance dogs only.
How does it work?
One booking gets your group one link. Everyone opens it on their own phone, no app, and you play one shared game. See how it works
