A walk of up to two hours through Cambridge, played on your phones. Follow a night climber's route-book from the pavement, solve a clue at each gate, bridge and clock, and hear what the colleges don't put on their signs.

In 1937 Kit Wren climbed the roofs of the Cambridge colleges that wouldn't let her be a member. Her route-book survived, with a letter pencilled in the corner of most pages. Follow it from the pavement, from Parker's Piece to the river, and put her letters in order to find where she went when there was nothing left to climb.

10 stops, and a true story at each

Every stop is a real place most people walk straight past. Solve its clue and you get its story: who lived there, and what happened.

Good to know

Who is it for?

Friends, a day trip from London, a visit to someone at university. Anyone who likes a puzzle and a walk.

Do we need to get into the colleges?

No. Every answer is on a gate, a wall, a lamp post or a bridge you can see from the street, so college closures don't matter.

When can we play?

Any day of the year. Set off by 2pm from October to March, or by 5pm in summer.

Do we climb anything?

No, and please don't. The real danger in Cambridge is at street level: bicycles, fast and silent.

How does it work?

One booking gets your group one link. Everyone opens it on their own phone, no app, and you play one shared game. See how it works
